Low calorie sweeteners’ science of 2017 in a nutshell

In 2017 a lot of research was performed involving low-calorie sweeteners and multiple scientific publications were published. As stated by ISA (International Sweeteners Association), the benefits of low calorie sweeteners in weight regulation and glucose control received primary attention (ISA, 2018).

 

What really stood out in these researches:

– The advantages of zero calorie sweeteners in glucose control are affirmed in new studies and even recognized in recent diabetes guidelines.

– Products containing low calorie sweeteners are often used by consumers to reduce their calorie intake and control cravings.

– Although still speculation, new findings show that no-calorie sweeteners do not increase appetite nor food intake.
