D-Xylose is obtained from plant cell walls and fibre and it is commonly called wood sugar.
D-Xylose is water-soluble and has the same flavour as glucose. It is used as the raw material for hydrogenation to produce Xylitol. D-Xylose can inhibit odours and increase the sweet flavour of foods.
